#2 Family Tales

Few can combat the urge of listening to a true story or a story told with enthusiasm. I have 3 ways that you can forge closeness with your family through telling tales.
- 1. STORYTIME FREESTYLE: Storytime freestyle is a frequent activity in my household and enjoyable for all of my family members. To do this we take a classic story (example: Goldilocks and the Three Bears), and give characters names & plots that are relatable to today’s world. This is sure to bring out creativity and laughs all night.
- 2. HISTORY TALES: Pick a few family members to tell a story of a family member that has passed away, or tell a story about one of your family ancestors. Not only is this an excellent family history lesson, it will get family engaged and asking questions.
- 3. TELEPHONE TALES: Another family favorite at my house. Did you ever play the game “Telephone” when you were a kid? The game starts by one person whispering a phrase in someone’s ear. By the time you get to the end of the line what was originally whispered to the first person is totally different with the last person. Well Telephone Tales essentially works the same way….
You want to start with a story (Example: Birth of a family member). Then everyone is going to tell their side of what happened. Everyone is bound to have a different story based on their point of view. This game makes for great laughs, discovery, and a great time passer.
No matter how old we get we never stop loving a good story. So tell some tales with your loved ones and bond.
